Just a selection. So many exciting games offered at North Star!

At the heart of North Star are the games that our community brings to life.

Whether you’re here to GM or play, here’s how the process works for each role:

For Game Masters (GMs)

Your creativity drives the convention! Running a game at North Star is straightforward, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

  1. Register for the Convention:
    • Start by filling out the registration form at this link.
    • To complete your registration, please send your payment of £15 (one day) or £30 (two days) to payment@northstarcon.org.uk via PayPal. Be sure to complete this step before moving on to game bookings.
  2. Submitting Your Game:
    • You must be registered to book game slots. Once registration is confirmed, you’ll receive a link to the shared Game Submission Sheet.
    • Use the “Timetable” tab to book up to two slots, and the “Game Details” tab to describe your games, including player count and safety tags.
    • It’s okay if you don’t have all the details right away! Final game descriptions and safety tags will be firmed up closer to the convention.
  3. Game Allocation:
    • Game slots are allocated before the convention based on demand and preferences. The organisers aim to balance schedules to accommodate as many attendees as possible.
  4. Game Prep:
    • Most games are one-shots with pre-generated characters unless your game encourages quick in-session character creation.
    • Use safety tools (e.g., Lines & Veils, X-Card) to ensure a fun and inclusive experience. The TTRPG Safety Toolkit provides useful resources.
  5. First Picks:
    • As a GM, you’ll have priority access to sign up for games during other slots. You can select one game to play for each slot you are GMing.
  6. Support & Assistance:
    • If you’re new to GMing or have any concerns, reach out to the organisers for guidance. We’ll support you during preparation and on the day of the event.

For Players

Dive into thrilling adventures in the stars! Here’s how you can join the action:

  1. Register for the Convention:
    • Start by filling out the registration form at this link.
    • To complete your registration, please send your payment of £15 (one day) or £30 (two days) to payment@northstarcon.org.uk via PayPal. Ensure you complete this step to be eligible for game sign-ups.
  2. Game Sign-Ups:
    • Once GMs have submitted their games, you’ll receive access to the Game Sign-Up Sheet. Games are listed with descriptions, time slots, and player limits.
    • Sign-ups open approximately two weeks before the convention. You can rank your preferred games for each slot.
  3. Allocation Process:
    • To ensure fairness, games are allocated based on preferences and availability. GMs choose first, and then player allocations are finalised.
    • If your top-choice game is full, we’ll move to your next preference. A finalised schedule will be shared before the event.
  4. Be Prepared:
    • Bring your gaming essentials: dice, pencil, notepad, and plenty of enthusiasm! Pre-generated characters will usually be provided unless stated otherwise.
    • Familiarise yourself with any game-specific materials shared by the GM beforehand.
  5. Enjoy & Explore:
    • Join the immersive worlds crafted by your fellow attendees.
